Why couldn't they build something off the Volvo S80 platform like Ford did with the Fivehundred? Would it sell? I don't see why not. I mean if Mazda really believes they need a 7 passenger crossover why couldn't they sell a sedan larger than the Mazda6 ? While the Fivehundred doesn't seem very Zoom Zoom, don't underestimate the chassis, after all the S-80 is the source. And what would Mazda do with it's first V8? At least I've never heard of a factory V8 from Mazda.
What do you think? Should Mazda bring out a 9 ?

As a Mazda fan, yes, a Mazda9 would be cool. They could sell it against the new Honda Accord.
As far as I know, there was never a factory V8 from Mazda though I recall them talking about V12s around the time all the Japanese makers were doing crazy stuff like that. I think only Toyota ended up with a V12 though. I think Mazda went rotary with their high-end luxury cars, the triple-rotor JC Cosmo in particular springs to mind, though you couldn't get that engine in a saloon/sedan.
